Here is my collection of Java books that I suggest to every programmer who wants to learn Java. For beginners, Head First Java is still the best book to get started, and for the advanced Java developer, Effective Java is a nice book to start with. Having said that, not all books are equally suitable for all programmers. It doesn’t matter whether you are completely new to Java or have been programming in Java for some time, you will learn a lot of new things through these books. These books are some of the best available today and are equally useful for beginners, intermediate, and advanced Java programmers. Though I have read many of them already (I have read Effective Java at least four times so far), I always want to learn something new and my quest for great books never ends.
